Daniel Beretta wasn’t just the French voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He also provided the voices of Ernie Hudson, Rutger Hauer, and Alan Rickman. He voiced Lumière in the animated film Beauty and the Beast (1991) and the mayor in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). He also gained fame as an actor, appearing in films such as Wild Summer (1970), Dust in the Sun (1972), Nightcrawler (1988), and Cyrano de Bergerac (1990), to name a few. Since the American series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit began in 1999, he has also provided the voice of the French actor who provided the famous scream.

Daniel Beretta’s death deeply affected many people, including his friend Jean-Luc Reichmann, who paid tribute to him on Instagram. On Saturday, March 23, 2024, shortly after the news broke, the host of the game show “Les 12 Coups de Midi” on TF1 shared a black and white photo of himself and wrote: “It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of my friend, the actor and singer Daniel Beretta, who lent his French voice to Arnold Schwarzenegger in about thirty films, at the age of 77.” He added: “My thoughts are with your daughter and your family, dear Daniel.”
