This salad is not even one of those common salads that are always showing up at Potlucks, picnics or parties. So I was really thankful that I had remembered a salad that involved peas.
This is really super easy to make and you might even have all that you need at your place already. Just a few simple ingredients and you are set for a rush of memories from your childhood also.
I do recall that this was one of those salads that were versatile and that Mo would change up some ingredients depending on who was there with us.
Should I use canned peas or frozen peas?
This Pea Salad is always better with the crisp type peas. I never use canned peas in this salad. The salad is moist and adding canned peas which are quite soft, will make it even softer.
What type of cheese is best for me to use?
Again, Cheddar Cheese is the common block of cheese. The Cheese is cut into bite sized squares and added to the salad.
Red Onion or Purple Onion?
You could use Red onion, although many people consider the Red Onion and the Purple onion to be one and the same. The Red Onion adds the perfect color.
Can I make this ahead of time?
If you want to make it in advance, put the salad together, except for the dressing portion. Add the dressing when you are ready to serve the Salad.
How long will this Pea Salad stay fresh?
This salad will last 2 to 3 days in the refrigerator. However, this Pea Salad never lasts that long in our house. Be sure to keep the Pea Salad in an airtight container.
