German Chocolate Cake

For the coconut-pecan frosting:
• 1 cup evaporated milk
• 1 cup sugar
• 3 egg yolks
• ½ cup butter
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1½ cups shredded coconut
• 1 cup chopped pecans
👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the cake:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two or three round cake pans.
2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
3. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
4. Stir in hot water (the batter will be thin).
5. Pour into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes.
6. Let cakes cool completely.
