Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the top. Add chopped nuts and mini marshmallows, if using.
Bake uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown, the edges are bubbling, and the center is set. If pockets of dry cake mix remain, lightly drizzle additional melted butter as needed.
Remove from oven and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. Spoon portions while warm and top with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry.
