Three “S”s that ruin a woman in marriage

On my blog, I often come across a photo illustrating the theme of a woman’s reverse evolution within marriage. These words, attributed to the villain Cruella de Vil, sound like a warning: marriage has destroyed more women than famine and natural disasters combined. Obviously, the authors used such an image to emphasize the character’s cruelty, but in reality, these words have become a motto for many who suffer or fear suffering in unhappy marriages.

I have two attitudes toward such statements. On the one hand, many women face such problems in marriage. On the other hand, I don’t think it’s fair to shift the blame onto abstract concepts or phenomena. In my opinion, it’s not marriage itself that destroys a woman, but rather certain aspects of it that can be used against her.
