Dr. Pepper BBQ Sloppy Joes

I always turn to this recipe when I am short on time but want something hearty. Last summer, these sloppy joes became a big hit at our backyard cookouts and now my kids cheer when they see Dr Pepper in the shopping bag.

Ingredients
Lean ground beef: Ensures a tender filling without excess grease. Look for fresh beef with bright color and minimal moisture.
Granulated garlic: Provides mellow allium depth. Opt for finely ground types for even distribution.
Kosher salt: Brings everything together. Choose coarse salt for better flavor absorption.
Black pepper: Adds sharp bite; freshly cracked gives the best taste.
Diced onion: Delivers classic sweetness and texture. Yellow onions work great and soften easily.
Dr Pepper Barbecue Sauce: The star for tangy sweet richness. Go for brands with real Dr Pepper for the most vibrant flavor.
Soft sandwich buns: Give that pillowy base. Brioche or potato buns hold up best to the saucy filling.
Instructions
Brown the Beef:
Add your ground beef to a hot skillet. Season with garlic, salt, and pepper. Break apart with a spatula and cook for ten minutes, stirring frequently until the beef just begins to brown and sizzle slightly.
Soften the Onions:
Once beef is mostly browned, stir in diced onion. Continue cooking about five minutes. Let the onions soften and gently caramelize while the beef crisps at the edges.
Add the BBQ Sauce:
Pour Dr Pepper Barbecue Sauce into the skillet. Stir very well so every bit of meat and onion is coated, lower the heat to a gentle simmer, and let it bubble for five minutes. This step melds all flavors.
