Dr Pepper BBQ Crockpot Ribs

Ingredients

Baby back pork ribs (or sub with spare ribs or St. Louis-style)
1 onion (white or yellow), diced
Fresh minced garlic
1 can Dr Pepper soda
Liquid smoke (optional, for that smoky BBQ flavor)
Your favorite BBQ sauce
see continuation on next page
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the ribs by patting them dry. Remove the tough membrane from the back using a knife and paper towel.
Step 2: In the crockpot, add diced onion, minced garlic, liquid smoke (if using), and the Dr Pepper. Cut ribs into manageable sections and place in the slow cooker with the liquid.
Step 3: Cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until ribs are tender.
Step 4: Preheat broiler and line a baking sheet with foil. Transfer ribs to the sheet and brush generously with BBQ sauce. Broil a few minutes until slightly caramelized.
Step 5: Remove from oven and brush on an extra layer of sauce before serving.

Tips for Best Results

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze up to 3 months.
Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping.
Instead of broiling, feel free to grill the ribs briefly for a smoky char.
Use a slow cooker liner to make cleanup quicker and easier.
